Dordrecht - Kromhout aan het water (ENG)
Het Kromhout, well known to the ‘true Dordtenaar’, is a familiar piece of inner-city history.
On the edge of the city center lies Het Kromhout — a part of Dordrecht that has long been the subject of debate. Everyone agreed that the area needed new housing. However, there was criticism from various quarters about how to achieve this, without anyone actually daring to take the lead. A parking garage was considered unacceptable, high-rise buildings were seen as a cardinal sin, and the old Van Damme car garage was not to be demolished.
Believing in the potential for high-quality new construction at this location, Holtburgh Capital seized the opportunity in early 2020 and acquired the fully permitted project.
Holtburgh has an intrinsic motivation to deliver improvement and added value to both the city and its residents through its inner-city projects.
As a ‘Dordts’ (Dordrecht-based) firm, this project is therefore close to our hearts.
“Holtburgh has been active in the Netherlands for ten years, and to a lesser extent in Germany, but we notice that our focus on Dordrecht is growing steadily, with an increasing number of projects in the region over the past few years.”
The project involves the development of 41 urban homes, ranging from starter homes to senior-friendly residences.
In addition, extra parking spaces will be created, each apartment will have its own private outdoor space, and the rear of the complex offers residents a view over the water. The demand for affordable housing in Dordrecht is very high, and despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the homes were allocated in a very short period of time.
Holtburgh aims to start construction at the end of Q2 or the beginning of Q3 of this year, with the planned completion of the apartments in the autumn of 2022.
Gerko van Nes has been involved in the project from the very beginning and also serves as the project manager for Holtburgh.
